The Hague Convention is an international treaty designed in part to protect a parent's rights when custody of their child is an international issue. In many of these cases, a mother is attempting to escape domestic abuse and is all too often charged with child abduction, forced to return the children to the abusive father.
This film is based on the real stories of these women, and tells the story of one young mother fleeing an abusive relationship in a foreign country. She goes home to her family in the states, and a little known international law makes her a kidnapper, forcing her to put all hope on a reluctant small-town lawyer and a long-shot custody battle.
